  • How successful was the conversation between 1 – 10? (1 = least successful, 10 = most successful)
    • If you answered 7-10
      That’s good you seem to have got what you wanted from the conversation. You should have confidence that you are communicating well.
    • If you answered 0 – 6
      That’s OK. Not all conversations need to have a purpose. If you felt that communication broke down, this might be a subject you want to explore further.
  • How enjoyable was the experience between 1 – 10? (1 = least enjoyable, 10 = most enjoyable)

    • If you answered 7-10
      That’s good. Enjoying a conversation shows that you are comfortable with this person in this setting. There are lots of things that effect conversation which we will explore later.
    • If you answered 0-6
      Since this didn’t feel very good it is important to think about the reasons and explore these further.

Key point

Not all conversations need to tick both boxes, but it is useful to think of both good and bad experiences to work out your goals in improving your communication.
